A tragic shooting incident at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia

September 4, 2024 – A tragic shooting incident at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, has left at least four people confirmed dead, with approximately 30 others injured. The severity of these injuries remains unclear, as some may not be directly related to gunshot wounds.

As authorities continue to investigate, a suspect – a student-aged individual – is currently in custody, although it’s uncertain if they were actually enrolled at the school.

In response to the incident, all schools within the district were placed under lockdown, and police were dispatched to nearby high schools as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, there have been no reports of secondary incidents or additional scenes.

Crews responded by helicopter to transport some of the critically injured individuals, with additional aircraft on standby should further assistance be needed.
